Habibulla Khan Passed Away

Senior Congress leader and former Odisha minister of Nabarangpur, Habibulla Khan died yesterday on 14 feb 2015, satarday afternoon  at a hospital in Vishakhapatnam following a protracted illness.

He was 81. Khan, who had started his political career in 1961 as a Sarpanch of Taragam, unstoppably won the Nabarangpur Assembly seat for eight times from 1971 to 2004.
He was elected as an Independent candidate in 1971 and on a Swatantra Party ticket in the subsequent poll. A nine-time MLA from Nabarangpur constituency, Khan was elected twice from his home constituency as a candidate of Swatantra Party in 1971 and 1974.Later, he joined the Congress and was elected as MLA consecutively for eight times from 1977 to 2004.
Expressing profound grief over the death of Khan, senior Congress leader and former minister Niranjan Patnaik said Khan was an able organizer and a man of amiable personality who had worked relentlessly for the development of undivided Koraput district.
